Construction Kits – Build Your Own Track

Cubase construction kits are made for producers who want individual building blocks rather than a finished Cubase song.

A construction kit can contain MIDI files, audio loops, one-shots, presets and other production elements that can be combined to create your own arrangement. Instead of opening a complete finished template, you start with a collection of musical parts and decide how you want to use them.

This gives you more freedom over the final production. You can choose a bassline from one section, combine it with different drums, try another melody and build the arrangement around the elements that work best together.

Construction kits are useful for producers who want inspiration without simply copying an existing project. They can also save time when starting a new track because you already have professionally prepared musical material to work with.

For Cubase users, MIDI files are particularly useful because they can be opened and edited directly in the Key Editor. You can change notes, timing, velocity and other MIDI information to fit your own track. Audio loops can be rearranged, chopped and processed, while presets can give you a starting point for developing your own sounds.

A construction kit can therefore be used in several different ways. You might use one complete set as the foundation of a track, take only a few elements from it, or combine parts from several different sources to create something new.

If a full Cubase template feels too restrictive but starting completely from scratch takes too much time, construction kits offer a middle ground: you get useful production material while keeping control over the composition and arrangement.
